Choose a path

One foundation, used in different ways.

The book remains the same. The questions, supporting materials, and next steps differ for individual readers, educators, and organizations.

Individual readers

Build a durable programming foundation.

Review the paperback and Kindle editions, see the full chapter scope, and work through the free 26-chapter browser companion.

Educators

Use it as a flexible course supplement.

Explore the Instructor Guide, printable worksheets, chapter tiers, pacing options, public evaluation materials, and the policy for requesting an evaluation copy.

Teams and programs

Strengthen practical code literacy.

See how the book can support testers, analysts, support teams, managers, and workforce learners without requiring a full software-development curriculum.

The central idea

The syntax changes. The fundamentals never do.

Variables, conditions, loops, functions, collections, scope, memory, errors, and execution appear in different forms across languages, but the ideas underneath them remain recognizable. The book teaches those ideas in plain English before asking the reader to deal with the punctuation of any one language.

That foundation is useful whether someone is preparing to write a first program, teaching an introductory course, testing software, working beside engineers, or reviewing code produced by an AI tool.
